Who are we?
Yotzer Or Congregation
Established in the year 2003 following a two-year
mapping process which identified existing services and needs, Yotzer Or has
striven to build a congregation relating to and dealing with challenges in
Israeli society in the areas of education, welfare and Jewish identity. Yotzer
Or is affiliated with The Masorti (conservative) Movement in Israel.
Through its programs,
Yotzer Or aims to promote a spirit of collective action and cooperation in the
Public housing part of the Talpiot neighborhood of Jerusalem, thereby creating a congregation that plays a
greater role in both children's education and also in family empowerment.
Yotzer Or is unique in that it addresses the needs
of individuals while creating a community
centered around common interests, specifically in the areas of education,
culture, identity and Judaism.
This delicate interplay between both
individuals' needs and collective action facilitates significant empowerment
and sustainable change in the neighborhood.
Within six years Yotzer Or has successfully
launched more than 15 long-term programs and has run numerous short-term
activities.
